Playtex super extra
absorbent self-adjusting menstrual tampons
(1974?, International Playtex Corp., U.S.A.)
Tampons have battled one another
over the ability to absorb much
menstrual discharge especially
during the 1970s - and it lead to
the disaster called Rely. Other
tampons are also associated with
the dangerous and sometimes fatal
toxic shock syndrome (TSS).
This Playtex was one of the
company's competitors (see the announcement
of another).
I thank
the former Tambrands, maker of
Tampax, for donating the box!

encloses it. If you want to see
what's inside, as I did,
you peel the yellow vertical strip
off (at left).
The box measures 5 5/8 x 2 1/2 x 1
5/16" (14 x 6.5 x 3 cm).
