Pursettes menstrual tampon,
puberty & menarche booklet,
late 1950s?, U.S.A.
Getting
to Know Yourself
Pursettes, a tampon
with a lubricated tip, and no
longer produced, made this
booklet for teenage girls,
possibly in the late 1950s or
early 1960.
The Tambrands research
library kindly gave it to MUM.

Below:
Inside front cover and p.1. Look
how the booklet conceals the
fact that it's about
menstruation and sanitary
protection by putting
that information on the inside
front cover (below, left), not on
the cover. "Growing" - wink, wink,
nudge, nudge - is a euphemism for
obvious sexual maturation; kids
have been growing since they were
born, even growing up.
