I thank Tambrands, the former
maker of Tampax, for donating a
file folder of dozens of Pursettes
ads to this museum!

The hand emphasizes how small
the tampon is although women
could buy small tampons with no
applicators at least 20 years
before this ad - Wix, for
example, and Dale had
no applicator but the latter did
have a lubricated tip, like
Pursettes.
Gee, guess
what "K, M or T" are?
Just Pursettes's main competitors,
Kotex, Modess, and Tampax, and
they snuffed Pursettes out about
two decades later. This Tampax memo
shows that it followed Pursettes
carefully.
Note those words dainty and
daintier, so common in
menstruation advertising.
A Tampax company hand typed the
information at top, which can't be
right. See the second ad.

You might ask, "How can two ads
occupy the same space on a
newspaper page?" Good
question! I think that Tampax
typewriter got the dates wrong.
