Pursettes menstrual tampon ads,
In many magazines, U.S.A., September 1963,
during the reform of
civil rights in America
Introduction.
I thank Tambrands, the former
maker of Tampax, for donating to
this museum a file folder of
dozens of Pursettes and Modess
ads!

Glamour magazine. Underlining
below and to the right apparently
emphasize points important to
competitor Tambrands, which owned
these ads. A Tampax hand underlined
and added her/his initials bottom
left. And used the now-rare typewriter to
show (bottom) where the ad came from -
with a type-over.
This ad does not follow the custom of
using the first letter(s) of the
magazine name in the box address. But
"Box B" is probably still a
reader-tracking device.

White
clothing is famous in menstrual
product advertising to show how a
company's offering does not
leak and stain.
